International
Storytelling Center

Jonesborough, Tennessee

Dedicated to the preservation and promotion of oral storytelling, the International Storytelling Center is located at the edge of the most urban stretch of Main Street in Tennessee’s oldest and best-preserved town, where it forms a courtyard with the historic Chester Inn. The new building makes its own distinct statement, announced on the skyline with a fifty-foot tower. In keeping with Jonesborough’s small scale, the new building is organized as a series of components that negotiate the difficult slope between Main Street and a new park.
