Green GABLED HOUSE ON THE MARSHES OF GLYNN
St. Simons Island, Georgia
Designed for a spectacular site on Georgia’s St. Simons Island, this 10,000-square-foot double-gabled house is sensitively sited to preserve the property’s mature live oaks, as well as to favor a sweeping vista across the Mackay River to the romantic marshes of Glynn and the dramatic Sidney Lanier Bridge in the distance. A winding drive leads to a welcoming pedimented entry porch. The major first-floor rooms—living, dining, family, and library, as well as the broad wraparound porch—are all oriented to views across the water. Upstairs, the principal bedroom suite features a sitting room that opens to an upper porch also facing the river. Gardens, a pool, and a pickleball court are nestled into the landscape. The fancy-cut shingle facades are stained sage green to harmonize with the surrounding foliage.
