TOWNHOUSES AT SAG HARBOR

Sag Harbor, New York

The design for six two-story townhouses, on a highly visible waterfront site near the landing of the bridge to North Haven and the Shelter Island ferry, is intended to welcome those arriving by car to the Greek Revival character of historic Sag Harbor. Each of the facades, some clad in clapboard and others shingled, features a Neoclassical entry porch; garages serve as hyphens connecting the residences. Facing the harbor and a proposed marina, porches on two levels overlook the new public John Steinbeck Park designed by landscape architect Edmund Hollander. An adjacent three-story apartment building completes the composition.
